Since its launch in December 2023, Fortnite Festival has become a fan-favorite rhythm mode, offering players a chance to jam along to iconic songs from across the music spectrum. But recent developments have sparked fears within the community that Epic Games may be scaling back support for the mode—just as it did last year with Rocket Racing.

These concerns grew stronger after two consecutive weeks of minimal new content. Typically, Fortnite Festival adds three or more jam tracks weekly. However, last week featured only one addition: “Slay!” by EDM artist Eternxlkz. While this week’s new track, Old Town Road (Remix) by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, is a certified chart-topper, it’s still the lone addition.

On platforms like Reddit, Festival fans have voiced their disappointment and worry. The subreddit’s top posts are filled with speculation and frustration, pointing out how content drops have slowed to an unprecedented rate. For longtime players, the drop from multiple weekly songs to just one feels like a major red flag.

What’s also caused unease is a shift in how songs are sold. Earlier in the year, players could purchase any jam track at any time from the Festival shop. But Epic has now adopted a rotating item shop model, meaning songs only appear for a limited time. This change adds FOMO (fear of missing out) pressure and has made it harder for fans to collect their favorite tracks.

Despite all this, there are still signs that Epic hasn’t fully given up on Festival. The latest seasonal Music Pass introduced Bruno Mars as the new headliner, and ABC by The Jackson 5 is currently a featured unlock. However, some fans believe this may just be a distraction from the slow stream of weekly updates.

It’s also worth noting that Epic Games is currently on its summer break, which may explain the lack of major announcements or song drops. Once the team returns, Festival could very well regain its momentum.
